What does FTP mean? and what is it for?

FTP is an acronym for "file transfer protocol" or "file transfer protocol". It is one of the most used ways to exchange files on the web from servers to a local storage location. For web programmers as well as beginners or advanced, it is an extremely useful and simple to use tool.

From the administrative panel of your hosting you can configure different FTP users with different privileges to upload and download the files that make up your page. These accounts can have access to specific paths within the site or to the root path of your site. Once the account is configured, it is enough to use an FTP client, a program or application that will give you access to the server.
